Smeg

Over 65 years of passion and business vision Smeg Instruments - La StoriaSmeg, founded in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzoni in Guastalla, a town near Reggio Emilia, is the Italian company that has been able to evolve simple household appliances into authoritative interpreters of "Made in Italy". The Bertazzoni family's productive and entrepreneurial history begins way back in the 19th century. Starting out as blacksmiths, the Bertazzoni's, over time have branched out into other areas becoming cooker manufacturers and, at a later time, manufacturers of machines for professional use such as washer-disinfectors and glassware washers. After consolidating its position in the household appliances sector, Smeg diversified its production by inserting new professional divisions: one dedicated to products for Restaurants, Smeg Foodeservice Solutions, and in 1985, one for washing and thermal disinfection, Smeg Instruments. The first professional glassware washers were produced based on the company's knowledge in the washing sector, and soon, the changing needs related to performance and certification lead to the development of machines complying with the regulations of the medical sector, i.e. the increasingly efficient and specific washer-disinfectors equipped with baskets and trolleys. To meet the market demand, particularly challenging in terms of performance and flexibility, Smeg Instruments subsequently launches a range of professional refrigeration products.
